Camas Washington is a growing community in Southwest Washington which was incorporated on June 18th 1906. The name came from the Camas lily flower.
A well know wealthy businessman named Henry Pittock, who came from England and settled in Portland, began publishing the Oregonian newspaper. In 1883 he bought 2600 acres and formed the Columbia River paper company and soon after started printing paper.
Camas Washington is now a quaint beautiful town and popular spot with Lacamas Lake being close by. Living in this area for years I have seen Prune Hill grow tremendously with large subdivisions spouting up. Lacamas Shores is one of the highest end areas anywhere around Southwest Washington with beautiful homes sprawling on a gorgeous golf course.
In 2010 the census was 19,355 people and 6619 households. Camas is close to the freeways which is why so many of the tech industry people move there. Restaurants and outdoor shopping abounds in Camas to service the growth.
