I chose Preferred Exteriors because of approach Bill used to determine how much I needed, as he progressed with my residing project. His price quote was given in two levels: one that would get me by and one that would preserve this house for the next generation. I chose the latter, as it will hand down to family. A 1996 double wide mobile home with deteriorating siding (in spite of the best paint I could apply around 2006), that small birds could peck holes through to nest behind the siding! The photos show the south-facing side that had deteriorated so badly the wall was beginning to sag! Bill’s crew was incredibly thorough in removing and replacing the rotten wood with fresh lumber to restore structural integrity!! This was in spite of freezing weather, followed by cold drizzle and rain for the first week! These guys were always in great spirits and willing to show me the exact steps they followed and materials used!! Just an excellent crew of professionals! Bill checked progress daily and regularly sent me video updates! An excellent service, since I couldn’t always meet him. I have no reservations about recommending this company!! We hired Preferred Exteriors to remove old (real) stucco siding and replace it with Hardy siding recent and were very happy with every aspect of the project. In short, we'd highly recommend working with Preferred Exteriors if you're looking for a similar project (or any siding replacement). Communications were excellent. This includes communications during the bidding process, as the initial workday neared, once the project was ongoing (both from the company owner and the crew on-site in that case), through different phases of the project (removal, installation, painting, etc). It was also true on multiple aspects: project scope, design considerations, how different decisions might affect our resale value, etc.). All communications were truthful, clear, timely, and helpful. The actual work crew were fantastic. They arrived on a regular, consistent basis, started early, worked hard, and didn't end until late, even during a stretch of unusually cold weather. The crew lead was pleasant and easy to talk to, and kept us updated on things we needed (or might want) to know as days went on. The crew was helpful in not only removing and replacing siding but in some rot replacement as well, including in helping us determine the sources of the leak. The work was timely, getting done in 4-5 days, which was really appreciated. Also, because we had stucco (and there were some high winds at the time), we were a little worried about a mess, but the crew handled the situation well and the worksite (our house) was always very clean. Before we selected this contractor and had this work done, we got a total of 11 bids. We selected this contractor for a number of reasons, including competitive price, good communications, demonstrated work experience, good warranty, and good technical awareness of the job. In all cases, our hopes were met. In summary, we chose Preferred Exteriors from a large group of contractor bids and had high hopes. And those hopes were met. Pricing was competitive/low, communication was great (before, during, and after the project as well as on a recurrent basis from the crew and during daily QA checks with the owner), quality of work was high, cleanliness of work was excellent, professionalism (including friendly customer service) from the crew was high, and follow-up communications were great. I talked to three different companies and Bill from Preferred Exteriors really put in the effort for my business. He was super friendly and great to communicate with. He worked with my crazy schedule so at times we went back and forth between calling, emailing, and texting. He talked about how things should be done not to just minimum code. He inspected and explained what was needed to repair the rot. While I was at work he sent me pictures and video to show everything. Even not being there I felt I was fully involved in it all. The work crew was amazing. They cleaned out more than was needed before starting the work and after it was better. The chimney and rot repair is better than new. I needed a siding inspection after finding mold on four corners of my home and unsure where the water was intruding from. Bill and his team were able to identify the source of the leak and replaced the siding on the upper portion of the house and also replaced the damaged sheetrock inside the garage. They then repainted the entire house which looks great. I am pleased with the work which was done at a fair price.
