Fishers Landing, Washington, is a town in southwest Washington State on the Columbia River. On November 3rd, 1805, the courageous Lewis and Clark expedition camped on what became known as Government Island. The area just north was named after Solomon Fisher, who in the 1850’s laid a claim on Government Island and 160 acres north of the island. Originally known simply as Fisher, it later became known as Fishers Landing Washington.
In the late 1800’s it was a steamboat landing. From the 1900s to the late 1960, Fishers Landing was known for a ferry that went back and forth to Government Island. Living in this area since 1990, I can personally say Fishers Landing has grown more than any other areas in the Vancouver Washington metro area. Popular for many restaurants and close to freeways, Fishers Landing, Washington, has more LP siding and popular Hardie Plank siding with residential buildings booming than any area around Southwest Washington.
