Lp siding, made by Louisiana Pacific, went into a nationwide lawsuit in the mid 90’s only 10 years after its inception in 1985. It is a particle board style siding that doesn’t hold up with all our rain. Lp siding originally had a 20 year warranty which is long gone from the lawsuit. Because of the huge building boom in the 80’s all around Vancouver Washington and Clark County, there is a massive amount of Lp still needing to be repaired or replaced. We also have extensive experience in Lp repair and replacement along with Hardie Plank repair and replacement. Many times Lp siding can be repaired instead of replaced if thats what the homeowner wants. Panel Lp siding, 4 x8 sheets, is nailed directly up over the studs with no moisture barrier protecting those studs whereas horizontal Lp siding should have a moisture barrier under it but often doesn’t. By far the majority of people who have their Lp siding or vinyl siding replaced pick Hardie Plank, sometimes called Hardie Board. James Hardie has dominated the market since it came in town around 1995. It has also changed and adapted to our needs for rain protection in the Clark County area.

We've had issues with leaky windows and some old rotting T1-11 on the south side of our Vancouver home since we bought the place from a flipper/contractor 3 years ago. Bill the boss at Preferred Exteriors came to our house for a consultation and he was friendly and knowledgeable, and most importantly he was willing to *repair* our siding when Everyone else just wanted to sell us whole-house siding replacement (which we can't afford). Another thing I love about Preferred exteriors is the fact that they are a small family company, with many years of experience in Vancouver; they're not a big chain all over that outsources or works on commission and doesn't really care about customer. And when I called/emailed them, I got to communicate directly with the owner. And Shane and Joe, the guys that did the work, were also super awesome; they were knowledgeable, easy to communicate with, friendly, willing to answer our questions when my husband and I were ever curious about the process or materials used. And the best part is, now that the repairs are done I can sleep alot easier at night knowing caring professionals repaired our leaky window and rotted siding with top quality materials. We own a 1950 something house and it was in dire need of siding. I called Preferred Exteriors and got a quick response from Bill the owner, any time we had a question he texted us back real fast. We set up a time for Bill to come out and look at our place. After he looked at everything he was very up front with any problems he might run into. He wrote up a bid and it was very fair, best quote we got actually. We were told it could take up to 2 weeks to finish the job. But we got lucky and the crew found very few problems during their work. The crew like Bill was very professional and did a wonderful job. They actually got it done in 8 days I believe it was. When everything was done I was impressed with how clean the yard was. I'm putting up before and after pictures. We are going to paint the house come spring and I'm hoping I can update the review. I'm very excited to see the house after we paint it. If you're reading this and thinking about using Preferred Exteriors, I advise you to call them. You won't be sorry.

Bill was so helpful in the whole process of getting our siding fixed. We had an arsonist try to burn our house down, thankfully it only caused smoke damage and some minor burning. The siding had been on our house for a long time and Bill helped us in approaching our insurance company in not settling for a piecemeal fix it job. That would have diminished the value of our home. So after many months of negotiations with our insurance company, they agreed to fix the whole back side of the house. Once the insurance agreed to pay for it, Bill was out here introducing Chris to us and letting us know the whien would begin. It was quick. Bill kept in constant contact with us, throughout the whole process. Even if there was going to be a delay, he always communicated what was happening. Chris, the one who did the job is amazing also. Very quick, hard worker, polite and kind young man. He would clean up after himself everyday that he worked. No mess on our patio.We are so pleased with how it turned out. 🤗 I cannot thank Bill and his team enough for all his help in this horrific ordeal. He helped us not settle for second best, and now I have a beautiful backyard. 😊 Our photos don't do justice because of the cloudy day, but we love it!!! ❤️
